  1. The caregiver will recognize and identify healthy food choices for the client with diabetes.

  2. The caregiver will recognize and identify unhealthy food choices for the client with diabetes.

  3. The caregiver will demonstrate the ability to use a glycemic index.

  4. The caregiver will demonstrate the ability to verbalize what consists of carbohydrate counting.

  5. The caregiver will demonstrate the ability to recognize the components of a food label.

  6. The caregiver will be able to define medical nutrition therapy.

  7. The caregiver will be able to identify healthy food portions and serving sizes.

  8. The caregiver will be able to assist their client with diabetes to select healthy food choices when eating out.

  9. The caregiver will be able to verbalize the importance of physical activity with diabetes.

  10. The caregiver will assist their client with diabetes to make healthy food choices when eating out.

 This course is WA DSHS approved for class credit and CE’s are required to work with long-term care populations. Credits can be used for Continuing Education or Population-Specific hours.

​This course will be taught online via Zoom and followed by the examination.  A Zoom confirmation link will be sent to you via email prior to the day of class.

Certificate of completion will be given to you following successful completion of the examination after class.

​Must have book prior to class—this is required for class participation.
